Tribal tattoo designs make up 30% of all tattoos
commsioned and inked. Tribal tattoo designs are generally
considered designs associated with a certain indigenous or
aboriginal peoples. Tattoo designs of a tribal nature may
include Polynesian tribal tattoos, Aztez tribal tattoos, Southwestern
American Indians, Native American tattoos and more.
The symbolism of tribal artwork and tattoos are that of belonging,
to a group, of related or likeminded people. The very word
tattoo, in fact, comes from the Polynesian word "tatao" which
means "to tap." The Tahitians used the word "tatu" which meant
"to mark."
The most common tribal tattoo designs are Native
American tribal tattoo designs, Aztec tribal tattoo designs
and African tribal tattoos.
